Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Vegan chocolate-covered strawberries are a special way to celebrate! Try this easy kid-friendly recipe for a stunning dessert that’s perfect for sharing.

Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Colander
  • Parchment paper
  • Rimmed baking sheet
  • Small microwave-safe bowl
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 1 pint strawberries about 12-15 medium strawberries
  • ¾ cup vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • teaspoons coconut oil or shortening

Instructions

  • Place strawberries in a colander and rinse under running water. Let drain.
  • Carefully dry strawberries with paper towels.
  • Place strawberries in a single layer on a paper towel to finish drying completely, about 30-60 minutes.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • Place chocolate chips and oil in a small glass bowl.
  • Microwave for 20 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir.
  • Microwave for another 20 seconds. Stir.
  • Repeat until about 75% of the chocolate is melted. Remove from the microwave.
  • Stir until all of the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Hold one strawberry by the leaves and dip it into the chocolate, turning it until about ¾ of it is coated. Gently turn the strawberry to let the excess chocolate drip off. Place on the prepared pan.
  • Repeat with the remaining strawberries.
  • Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes.
  • For best results, serve the same day.
  • Wash the dishes and clean up the kitchen.

  • Chocolate-Covered Strawberries with Toppings: Roll the dipped strawberries in crushed nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips.
 
Tips:
  • Be sure the strawberries, bowl, and spoon are thoroughly dry. Store leftovers at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 days.
